We made a very pleasant stopover at this hotel on our journey from Calais to the South West of France, Beaugency being halfway along the way. This converted former monastery is a lovely place to stay: the comfortable rooms have retained the charm of the abbey, with a modern, renovated en suite shower room with plenty of hot water. The location is ideal, overlooking the Seine and close to the city centre and its restaurants. We would definitely stay here again.

I think this is one of the most beautiful hotels in France, and absolutely deserves 4 stars! The service is exceptionally friendly, the location is spectacular (having a glass of wine from the monks of the barroux abbey by the fireplace is extra), the rooms with a view of the Loire are sublime and the monastic products at breakfast are delicious. Really, it's unbeatable value for money.

⭐⭐⭐☆☆The staff are really friendly and the place has a lot of charm, especially if you like places steeped in history. The decor is well worth a visit, and I recommend stopping by for a drink at the bar: it has a pleasant atmosphere. On the other hand, as far as the food is concerned, I found the experience rather limited. The dishes didn't convince me and didn't reflect the potential of the place. For a drink or to enjoy the setting, fine - but for dinner, I'd advise you to look for another table.

The hotel, housed in a 16th-century abbey, has retained all its old-world charm, transporting us back in time. The staff are warm and welcoming, exceptionally kind and friendly, and always smiling - you really do feel at home here! The next morning, a pleasant surprise awaited us: a sumptuous breakfast for all. There was something for everyone, and the quality was impeccable! We'll be back without hesitation!

A charming November stay at the Grand Hôtel de l'Abbaye: everything was absolutely perfect. From the moment we arrived, we were greeted with warmth, smiles and a nice touch of humour. The service was attentive, and the Abbaye's products were a real delight - special mention should be made of the magnificent breakfast and the rotisserie, which was generous, tasty and served in a magnificent setting with a roaring fire.We particularly liked the lounge, with its cosy atmosphere by the fire, and the breathtaking view over the Loire. The place, with its vast volumes, has something spectacular about it. A timeless interlude, a real change of scenery, yet so close to home. Many thanks to the whole team! We'll be back with pleasure.

An absolutely EXCEPTIONAL place to stay, with magnificent food and a real chance to sleep in such a magical place. What's more, the food is delicious and the service very attentive. The view over the Loire from the restaurant is splendid at sunrise and sunset, especially at breakfast, which is both gourmet and traditional, and at dinner, with famous dishes roasted in the monumental fireplace. A chocolate dessert to die for, even if you're no longer hungry. As for drinks, the red Chinon and sparkling wine are excellent, as are the many high-quality monastic craft products on sale.

Super hotel and restaurant. Excellent value for money. We had a very pleasant stay and were able to dine in the restaurant with a view of the Loire and dishes cooked directly on the open fire, not forgetting the cheese platter. A highly recommended place for a romantic getaway!
