We spent a night here on our way back to the UK after a great holiday. The town and hotel, with their views of the river and bridge, are beautiful. Check-in was smooth, staff polite and welcoming. The interior of the hotel, with its remarkable historic charm, has been perfectly preserved and restored. It is authentic and, despite some obvious modern touches, has not overshadowed the essence and character of the historic building. The room was tastefully decorated, with a large window and high ceilings. The en-suite bathroom was compact but spotless and brand new, and the walk-in shower was spacious with good non-slip flooring. We dined in the restaurant, but when we returned it was very busy, making it obviously popular. We had a look at the menu and on our return we would definitely go again. The hotel has a pleasant bar with plenty of comfortable seating and a large fireplace for the winter months. Secure private parking is also available. The key ring is a large medieval key, which is a nice touch in the context of the building. However, we had a good laugh at teenagers complaining that this so-called 'key' didn't open any doors, having failed to see the small key attached to it that opened their bedroom lock! All in all, it's a great place to stay in a beautiful city, and we'd definitely go back. We highly recommend it to lovers of history and beautiful architecture. It is clear that your stay here will contribute to an ongoing programme of restoration and maintenance, ensuring an unforgettable stay for all.
Perfect location! Beautiful rooms and setting. We stayed here one night before leaving for Spain and couldn't have chosen a better location. The restaurant serves perfectly prepared wood-roasted meats, salmon and chicken. Breakfast is also perfect. The rooms are very well equipped and the bedding is of good quality.
Rooms in the style of the (medieval) Abbey we were passing through in July 2025, roast dinner (chicken and rib steak) on a medieval spit, nothing available here for vegetarians, breakfast in the same dining room, €18.50 but really worth it... great food... in short, we'd love to go back, see you next year 👍🏻
A perfect stay in this hotel where history catches up with you at every step.
Fantastic hotel. Converted former monastery. The atmosphere of the old monastery is still present. The service and food are excellent.
A really different hotel, set in a former abbey on the banks of the Loire. The rooms were quite decent, but we happened to stay there during a heatwave, with temperatures well over 35°C and no air conditioning! The food in the restaurant was excellent, as was the breakfast. Definitely worth a visit!
